I find it so annoying that most papers have to present their work as if they really solved this problem and there is nothing anymore to do in this field in order to get accepted. And the people working on similar things first have to go through all these methods to find out if one of them actually works for their non-cherry picked case? Why are reviewers like that? I would always accept a paper with a neat idea, solid execution and if it's not always the best method - good! It's honest!
